I had one thought - we could split this, for example:
* StarfishSpaceship - spacecraft whose very conceptual design, let alone its performance, seems to defy not only the laws of physics in both RealLife and in-universe.
* LobsterSpaceship - spacecraft that is physically possible, and probably has engines, a bridge, etc., but much of the ship seems to be a Lovecraftian mass of antennae and other parts of uncertain function, such as the "[[http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Narada Narada]]" of ''StarTrek'', or the "[[http://www.gearsonline.net/series/gallforce/destruction/ships/absolute.html Absolute]]" in ''GallForce''.
* ShapeshifterSpaceship - spacecraft that is physically possible, but transforms radically (not just extendable wings and the like).  Examples: The {{Macross}} - which starts off shaped like an ISOStandardHumanSpaceship, [[http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/macross.htm but is actually]] a HumongousMecha the size of a city that can travel from the Earth to Pluto on its foot thrusters.
