^^Actually, I think they are different enough to warrant a separate trope. TechnicallyLivingZombie basically refers to how recent Zombie interpretations are as victims of an incredibly infectious disease, and removes the supernatural aspect altogether from the story. On the other hand there is a trend in YA novels recently, possibly codified by VampireAcademy, wherein vampires are basically a WitchSpecies indistinguishable from elves who are perfectly alive and magical and only become 'evil' with typically vampire traits when they die or undergo a ritual or something. Also, vampires in Japanese Media are typically alive, since they aren't really considered undead, but as a type of {{youkai}}. Although this isn't always the case, there a lot of Japanese Media who also go for the European version of a vampire, too. There used to be a trope called JapaneseVampire, but it seems to was moved to this...place?: ''OurVampiresAreDifferent/AnimeAndManga'' and the trope name was redirected to OurVampiresAreDifferent. I don't know who did that, it's incredibly dumb and weird.
