** The 1933 short ''Bosko's Picture Show'' features Bosko running a theater and showing the viewer a newsreel, a [[Creator/LaurelAndHardy Haurel & Lardy]] short, and the main feature.
** The 1937 short ''She Was an Acrobat's Daughter'' features antics in a movie theater.
** The 1946 short ''Bacall to Arms'' has a similar premise, with the main feature being a spoof of ''Film/ToHaveAndHaveNot''. It even reuses footage from the previous short.
* ''WesternAnimation/MightyMouseTheNewAdventures'': The episode "Scrappy's Playhouse" features Scrappy going to a theater to watch some old Mighty Mouse cartoons, but some bully mice break into the projection room and cobble together clips from other Terrytoon shorts. Scrappy makes snappy remarks about the cartoons MST3K-style until he's thrown out for taking too much.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'': In "Silent Treatment", the Professor takes the girls to a theater that runs silent films. He then gets kidnapped by the movie's villain so he can steal his voice, and the girls make their way into the movie to save him.
* ''WesternAnimation/TwoStupidDogs'': The short "At the Drive-In" has the dogs [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin going to a drive-in]].
