I've gone back through and pared down the list. * DeathNote - It doesn't make a difference as far as I'm concerned whether the creator was invoking it consciously or not. Ryuk literally trades away some of his power over death and other of his other talents in exchange for apples because they are addicting to him. * Appleseed - I haven't seen the series, but the statements that the Appleseed is a MacGuffin granting long life are suggestive. I'm going to leave it in place for now. * Dragonball - Err, isn't it? I assume the fruit are in fact apples, given the page it came from. * SoulEater - Eeeeeeeeh... I don't know. Given that Medusa first possesses a friendly-looking dog in order to lure Rachel away from her parents and then possess her, it seems pretty appropriate to me. * Monster - Schubert wants to be told that the woodland still stands. Johan assures him it does, and gives him the apple as 'proof'. Schubert believes him, giving Johann his trust. You could call it the temptation of reminiscene, or nostalgia, I suppose. Just because the character doesn't recognise temptation doesn't mean it doesn't take place. I'm thinking about adding to the description that a MacGuffin in the shape of an apple is inevitably this trope, since a MacGuffin by definition drives the plot because someone wants it.
