^Duck tape is an accepted alternate name for duct tape, and may even be the older of the two. Some people (my father for one) have strong opinions about the difference between duck tape and duct tape, and this would definitely fall on the "duck" side. There's also [[StuckOnBandAidBrand Duck Brand Tape]], a [[CaptainObvious brand of duct (or duck) tape]], which is why [[GenericizedTrademark everybody else officially calls theirs]] duc'''t''' tape. Per TheOtherWiki: ->One view is that it was called "duck tape" by WWII soldiers either because it resembled strips of cotton duck[[hottip:*:"a heavy, plain woven cotton fabric" per a WikiWalk]] or because the waterproof quality of the tape contributed to the name, by analogy to the water-shedding quality of a duck's plumage. Anyway, back to the proposed trope: er, SeenItAMillionTimes, can't offer any examples right now.
