Looking at WrapItUp, it looks like it's more about the case of dwindling rating reaching a point where they want to cancel the show, but don't want to anger fans. There's another situation that can arise, and is epitomised by the {{MASH}} finale. It's a movie-length final episode, concludes the ''setting'' of the show, and occurs when a show wants to go out on top, and is having trouble coming up with ways to continue the show without causing dwindling ratings. Basically, the opposite of JumpingTheShark. Often followed by spinoff shows - in the case of {{MASH}}, there was Trapper John M.D., [=AfterMASH=], and [=W*A*L*T*E*R=]. Sometimes takes the form of a multi-part finale, rather than a movie-length finale (in which case, it would be possible to show the parts one after the other to practically form a movie). An example of this variant is Friends, which was soon followed by {{Joey}}. Usually recognisable by the episode/movie having very high ratings.
