~LavonPapillon1, the "general motif" is already covered by FireWaterJuxtaposition. This is a subtrope that also relates to ElementalRivalry, so I'm not sure it should be expanded past the RedOniBlueOni / otherwise duo aspect.

Given PersonalityPowers, the characters will often also form a RedOniBlueOni pairing. They'll also contrast in terms of appearance, where the "fire" character will have warmer colors in their design and the "ice" character will have cooler colors.

Elaborating on the Zelda example re confusion above^^ 
* Twinrova is a RecurringElement in ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'', appearing in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'', ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'', and ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOracleGames''.  She's an entity composed of twin sisters Koume (who uses fire spells and has red highlights in her design) and Kotake (ditto for ice and the color blue). The twins can form a FusionDance to form Twinrova, who has both fire and ice powers. Unlike other examples, though, the twins are TheDividual and are pretty alike in terms of personality.
