^^  I told you, "neither".  I said neither because the given options were more narrow than what I was referring to.  The supertrope suggestion is missing CoolAirship, and the "fantasy works" suggestion is missing da Vinci's Ornithoper and the James Bond autogyro.

I've been looking around the site since we were talking, because I've already got several half-baked YKTTW, and I didn't want a half-arsed effort lost in the digital abyss.  What I've found was ThoseMagnificentFlyingMachines.

With that "lost" trope, (it wasn't on the "Cool" indexes) and your definition expansion, we have:
* CoolAirship - Lighter-than-air flying craft
* CoolCopter - Rotary-wing flying craft
* CoolPlane - Fixed-wing flying craft
* FutureCopter - Tilting rotary-wing flying craft 
* SpacePlane - flying craft that are capable of space flight
* FlyingCar - cars with the ability to become flying craft
* HubcapHovercraft - vehicles with the ability to fly, ''specifically because of their wheels becoming engines''
* ThoseMagnificentFlyingMachines - everything else that counts as flying craft
