* A second honorable mention goes to the ''[[VideoGame/{{X}} X-Universe]]'', as in spite of the fact that there's at least one possible [[MultipleGameOpenings starting scenario]] for each of the series' six main races, the resulting {{player character}}s are only {{cosmetically different|Sides}} and in fact can be renamed at will, even to one of the other races.  The setting has six main races: the [[HigherTechSpecies Terrans]], [[TheFederation Argon]], [[TheKingdom Boron]], [[TheTheocracy Paranid]], [[ProudWarriorRaceGuy Split]], and [[ProudMerchantRace Teladi]].  It also has two antagonist races, the [[AIIsACrapshoot Xenon]] and [[BeePeople Kha'ak]], and supplementary materials add a non-spacefaring race of SapientCetaceans called the Wenendra, who live on a protected world in Boron territory.  There are also several levels of [[JustForFun/AbusingTheKardashevScaleForFunAndProfit Kardashev-abusing]] {{Precursors}}:  the Ancients, who exist as a {{Brain Upload|ing}}ed [[MindHive gestalt computer consciousness]], the robotic Sohnen that serve the Ancients as intermediaries to the Young Races, and the mysterious extrauniversal Outsiders who invaded our universe millions of years ago and were fought off by the Ancients.
