* Creator/DerekRobinson broke from type to produce ''Kentucky Blues'', a novel about the Deep South that sought to do for ''GoneWithTheWind'' what his WW1 air combat novels did for the ''{{Biggles}}'' genre. Speed is at first reluctant to tell other freed slaves in the black community exactly what he did for his owner and where his skills are. But eventually he confesses that his former owner "''farmed niggers''". Speed was a stud, used to continually impregnate black slave women kept only for breeding. He worked under threat - that if he did ''not'' father two hundred new slaves a year, he would be castrated and sent down the river. Speed is eventually lynched for using his trade skills to satisfy a certain need among white women.
