The Mechanic isn't all that well known, but is worth catching on cable if it shows. It is paced well, acted well, and has one of the most unexpected twist endings I have ever seen. However, the look of the film is extremely dated. The clothing screams The Seventies, along with the cinematography— check out those ludicrous camera pans to Charles Bronson's moustache! Despite this, it's got a pretty engaging story and the ending is executed perfectly. The existentialist theme makes it pretty interesting, giving the film no real "hero", more of just having a protagonist. When they remake this, they've got a lot to live up to in my eyes. One thing I will warn: It's not as fun watching it twice because of course, the ending won't surprise you.
