GORGEOUS.

I love it.

I don't care if it's considered Oscar Bait, if its corny of if some people state its irrealistic (it's not); this is without a doubt one of the greatest movies I have ever seen.

I laughed (especially with the Key/hat gag), I cringed (when they are arrested by the nazis) I elated (by the pure love and devotion of both of their parents to their son and the heights they will go to protect him) and cried by the pure horror and bliss such travel make me experience.

Both above all else, I was inspired. Guido Orefice is the greatest hero in the history of Fiction. He was neither stronger or inteligent than their fellow man. He wasn't a great warrior, a cunning tactician, a master orator; but he had the will beyond belief and a kind spirit so pure that not even the greatest horrors of the Human race could bend. He never gave up, he never retreated and laughed at evil when it snarled at his face but not for a lack of fear or unwavering courage; because his son was watching and he will do anything to protect him, to protect his family. So he used laughter, he used witticism and the pure, indiluted euphoria of being alive, of being in this wonderful, gorgeous world and thanking every single second he could pass with his family.

Giosué Orefice: [narrating as an adult] This is my story. This is the sacrifice my father made. This was his gift to me.

Life is, indeed, Beautiful.

It may not be irrealistic — I don’t even know what that means — but it certainly is unrealistic.

That's how we Italians say that word... I was kinda hoping for the review to have been written by an English troper, but oh well. :P

Hufflepuff pride, motherfuckers.

I agree, it's pretty great film. Well, I found the first half to be a more typical romantic comedy thing, but that only made the narrative shift even more hard-hitting, especially when combined with all the call-backs (the German doctor is probably my favorite one, because it's both completely logical and yet utterly unexpected at the same time.)

I saw it, and I liked it well enough... but at the same time, I understand where the people who really hate it are coming from? I don\'t know. I think I agree with your review more than I disagree though.

...I\'d like to think this act of dread necromancy is better than those who keep exhuming corpses just to pick fights, but...
