The author actually managed to explain a few of the Wall Bangers of the canon (i.e., why the Schiff burn up in the sunlight when none of the other chiropterans did, why Saya and Diva had no chiropteran form when it's readily apparent that their mother did, and, indirectly, Saya's Moral Myopia in trying to avenge Joel, who, lets face it, was a pseudoNazi fuck) and went to lengths to delve into the psychology, thought-processes, and biology of the chiropterans.
