In complete agreement with this review. Plus, the latest chapter is only showing off how important Izuku\'s character is to the story: rather than convincing Todoroki to start using his full Quirk by telling him to stop seeing the fire as Endeavor\'s, he does it by appealing to Todoroki\'s wish to be a hero people can feel safe with - and all of 1-A, who was eavesdropping on them, gets fired up as they realize Izuku wants them to stand besides him in the future.
It\'s really a good story, I just wish more people would try to understand where Sir Nighteye was coming from. Seriously, his untreated PTSD from \'\'watching his best friend / inspiration \'die\' had clearly been taking a toll on him ever since he had that vision.
@Neo Shiraku Your feelings might change given the newest chapter.
All is not lost. Not yet.I read it, and I still found myself less than impressed with the author\'s attitude towards Nighteye.
I mean, it\'s pretty accurate. \"I decided I was right and refused to believe otherwise. But once I had proof otherwise, I admitted fault and apologized.\" It\'s a pretty fair take on the dude who canonically acted as an Anti-Mentor for Izuku
All is not lost. Not yet.Side note: If Sir Nighteye had untreated PTSD, it\'s his own job as an adult (he was 32 when it happened) to get some therapy, not to take it out on the child he\'s supposed to be teaching.
All is not lost. Not yet.Kudos to the author for having this much success on a fanfic not even a year old.

Awesomeness and hilarity wrapped in more fluff than a sheep
On the surface, 849 is about Izuku being more badass than canon, and he is. But the real appeal is the heartwarming moments between characters. Izuku adopting the previous holders as his Family of Choice, Toshinori gushing about his "son" to David, the members of 1A just simply getting along so well. It's a warm and fuzzy story at it's core and I love it for that. Bakugo and Mineta are written out of the story but neither is done truly maliciously. Bakugo in particular gets his own spinoff about his journey to become a hero himself. Character flaws are addressed and done so in a believable way (Izuku bolstering Momo's confidence, Toshi trying to encourage Izuku without turning him into a martyr, etc) and even the inclusion of OFA's Life Drain side-effect is well done.
Perhaps the moment that best sells the story for me is Toshinori telling David that Izuku is his successor, not because Izuku as OFA, but because Izuku's presence makes you feel like everything will be alright. It's a scene that says not only is Izuku more than "The 9th Bearer of One-For-All" but that the quirk is irrelevant to who he is as a person.
