Lavanya Six's review

Exactly What It Says On The Tin. Nobody dies in this story, not even Yui. In a way it's a reconstruction of Evangelion, where there's adventure and giant robots fighting but the characters are developed without being crippled by their neuroses. It's also a very fun fanfic. There's lots of humor, especially in the Magnificent Bastardry of Yui. The AU aspect is also spun in interesting ways. Shinji is essentially the same person, if less prone to black moods, but Rei is a Genki Girl and Asuka is a crazy depressive.

I wrote my review a long time ago, back when Nobody Dies had just started out. At the moment it's now a little past Chapter 100.

I would no longer recommend Nobody Dies. It's flaws greatly outweigh its strength: it's too damn long, overstuffed with loads of characters, and Rei seems to derail every chapter with her whacky antics. The first two "seasons" are very strong, excellent fic... but there's never any real resolution to the story. It just keeps going and going and GOING, adding new characters as its goes.

I agree, it is impossible to recommend this story anymore. This is not meant as an insult towards the author's writing skills in general. He has simply allowed the story to go on for too long due to hype.

To me this story Jumped the Shark with the premature awakening of Adam and the emergence of the OC -angels. It also does not help that Rei and the Ree become extremely annoying as time goes on instead of being entertaining. And it does fill me with dread that the author apparently already has a sequel planned for the story. It also does not help that the author completely removed concept/danger of the heroes dying, which was an integral part of the Original Evangelion's plot. Essentially the characters are very close to being boring invincible heroes, which more or less makes all of the battles uninteresting to read.

No offence, but this story does not need new content. What it needs is for the author to remove the excess and unnecessary package that already exists to create a more coherent story. Essentially the various spin-offs need to go as they are unnescessary and most of the latest chapters need to be rewritten and trimmed down to form a good story.

Though with the amount of content present in the series it does make me question how people still keep finding the same gags being repeated over and over in every chapter funny.
