This is an eerie and rather surreal fic. I know next to nothing about Utena, but the feel of the story is like Utena with Evangelion elements merged into it rather than the reverse. While Shinji's interactions with Rei are charming, everything else that's going on pushes the story into borderline Dark Fic territory for its first half or so. Once Kaworu shows up, it abruptly transitions into an intensive examination of Kabbalistic theology and the nature of faith, which may leave the reader cross-eyed. Don't give up on it; the payoff is well worth any problems you may have with that material. The omake chapter is very funny and has some interesting insights.
