The Lizzie Bennet diaries is overall a very good adaption of a work that's tricky to set in the modern day. Some of the stakes of the original story are gone of course, but that is to be expected.
I think the best thing about this show has to be Jane and Lydia, who are adapted for a modern audience ingeniously.
However, I won't deny that there aren't some problems. The show was set in real time, so occasionally it drags a bit. Charlotte has some changes I really disagree with, namely that she's Lizzy's age and I feel their conflict in ideals is poorly handled. Lizzy can be a little annoying, but I think she's generally still really good and the exact type of person who would record their entire life, so ok.
The one thing I really don't like is Darcy. I think he's woefully written and miscast. However, the show is really very solid and the world building is fantastic.
Definitely recommended, but do factor in the time it'll take. This ain't no Carmilla.
Edit: Something I've noticed: it really drags on repeated viewings. As in, really drags. I've re-watched parts of it, but never managed to go through the entire series. It's just too slow. You also really start noticing contrivances on repeated viewings.
Also, I've kind of warmed to Darcy. He's well played.
