Less than Awesome

I only managed to make it through a season of this show. The writers rely heavily on idiot plots and characters often forget how to apply their powers.

The biggest twist of season one is blatantly given away by the 4th episode, only for the show to continue to tease us until episode 8. Numerous plotholes abound, such as why so few precautions were taken with incarcerating a known magical hypnotist. Generally, the Idiotball is tossed around like candy at a parade. Several episodes could have been solved by strategic use of powers that were revealed later or used previously.

Another other strange stylistic choice that got to me was Prock treating "Doctor" and "Professor" as different distinctions when most Profs have doctorates. Further, he doesn't actually seem to be a professor. A lot of names and allusions half hint at a punchline but never follow through, which makes it feel less like a joke and more like a kid making up cool sounding names as they go. With few exceptions, the shows jokes fell flat. Even the ones which worked weren't particularly hilarious or clever.

I've seen Children's shows treat its audience with more respect for their intelligence. On the otherhand, this show is clearly not aimed at kids.

Over all, what got me so far is that many of the characters had some spark of potential and an interesting pilot. Unfortunately, it failed to deliver on every count.

I have to admit, this show frequently treats its audience as if it is stupid. I feel that might be part of your problem, because the Doctor in this case means medical doctor, not doctorate. Season 2 also shows that Prock is a lawyer, even if it wasn't mentioned before.

I'd love to tell you that the show gets better in later seasons, but it really doesn't. It's the same sophomoric jokes with a superhero veneer rather than intellectual humour aimed at adults. Part of the joke might be that the Idiot Ball is handed around so freely, or it might just be a sign of poor writing.

Rule of Thumb: If a show has "Awesome" in the title, it's probably not.

^Fair. Even the title screams "Trying too hard".

^^I wasn't expecting it to be cerebral, but I think if I could summarize my review in a sentence it would be; Axe Cop without the charm, written by adults who try to make jokes about sex, racism and drugs.

It feels like shit is being made up on the spot but with far less spontaneous absurdness. I'd honestly believe that they improvised most of these episodes but even then, I don't think I'd be bothered to watch it since it's just not that interesting.

Edit: Also, since I can't edit my previous comment, it's worth mentioning that, to my knowledge, Professors of medicine (esp. in teaching oriented positions) don't necessarily require an additional degree on top of the standard medical degree (either Doctorate of Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine, depending on region). Even if he's an M.D., he does not need any additional degrees to become a Professor/Lecturer. It's just redundancy.

Presumably, they're trying to imply that he has multiple Degrees in different fields but "Prock" is just redundant and painful to me. Especially since he doesn't seem affiliated to any university.

Heartily disagree. The show is decent at first but gets MUCH funnier
