Easily One of Pixar's Best

I was visiting my parents when I saw this movie, and as such, saw it with my mother, and I remembered commenting to her that while I was confident this movie would be good, it still couldn't compare to Toy Story. But when I finished watching it, I was wrong. For me, this is almost, if not on par, with Toy Story.

The idea of this, while its been done before, has never been done better. Each individual emotion is engaging, memorable, and funny, with their own distinct personalities, and designs. You'd think since they're supposed to personified emotions they'd be cut outs, but they're not, they're actually pretty interesting. And its very realistic. While I was watching it, I remembered having similar feelings going through my head when I faced such obstacles. It gets the true feeling of a situation a child that age could go through.

No need to talk about the animation. Its Pixar animation, and is therefore amazing.

Parts of this movie, are downright hilarious, I remember many people in the theater (including a multitude of adults, and myself), laughing out loud during a lot of scenes. That's how funny it was, and they take advantage of every joke at their disposal with this scenario.

The lesson of the movie is also very good. In the end, the emotions realize that life isn't all about being happy. There will always be sad moments that you have to tough through, and to the best of my knowledge, this is one of the first kid movies that says that is okay to cry. True, we've seen other kid shows do this, but this is a central theme to the story, that sadness isn't a bad thing, and sometimes you just have to embrace your sadness, and get it out of your system. This is a great lesson for kids, and probably some adults as well, and its done very smartly.

I don't know how many other animated movies are coming out this film year, but there is not a shred of doubt in my mind, that Inside Out will win Best Animated Feature.

But...but...I thought spoiler font was turned off in reviews! Did they change that?

Spoilers shouldn't be included in reviews to begin with, since it defeats the purpose of trying to read it.

It'd be like writing a 3 page letter with the last page being blank.

This was a great review and I agree with many of the points.

"The idea of this, while its been done before..." If you don't mind me asking, which other works have done this?

"Humans and robots living together in harmony and equality. That was my ultimate wish."

Apparently, there was some short-lived TV series called Herman's Head. A couple of the few people who watched it showed up on Variety last week to bring it up, but could offer no other examples.

What I loved about the movie is that the humans had realistic movements and the emotions had quick and quirky movements, showing two completely different worlds at the same time. And even better is that all the emotions were actually dynamic and displayed a whole range of emotions other than their main emotion. This movie is truly an "emotional" experience.

You said pretty much everything I had to say. Amazing movie. For this one, I actually decided to take the opportunity and watch it in cinema (something I never do nowadays) instead of waiting for the DVD, and BOY am I glad I did! I don't remember when I last had this much fun!

My only personal gripe is that Disgust didn't get enough screentime. Every other emotion got plenty of time to show their (surprisingly complex) character and fuel a wide variety of jokes (Fear and Anger are easily among my favorites), but Disgust... she never really had the spotlight truly land on her. She was just around to throw a few jokes, be on the group's side to comment occasionally, but never got truly developed. Which is a shame, because I found her to be a likable and hilarious character.

I will be honest, for me, this is WAY better than Toy Story(I am one of the strange people that Toy Story never did anything for, I dunno if it is just because I never had a connection with any toys or what), and it is pretty much a draw which is the best Pixar movie, Inside Out or the first 10 minutes or so of Up, and honestly? if we really weight it out, I think Inside Out wins.

A lot of it was done before, but this just goes to show how well done this movie is, we've seen it all before, and it still managed to amaze everyone, it is less about being something new, and more about executing an old idea better.
