I think the anime purposefully caused Flanderization of the characters. I haven't played the game, but the way I understood from what I've read is that Makoto can either come across as just being... well a really horny boy who won't say no when a girl wants to do it with him, but ultimately does care about a girl (or girls) or as a jerk. And the anime went the Super Jerk route.
Maybe they did it on purpose, actually pretty sure it was on purpose, as a sort of hit at what happens if you go the Harem route and majorly screw it up. I absolutely agree, though, the characters in the anime are not likeable. I feel like I wanna reach into the screen and throttle every single one of them.

What the hell is wrong with this Anime? This one's notorious for violence. LOADS OF THEM. Trust me, most of the characters of this one are in the Pantheon/Disgraces! Trust me, I've rather destroy my iPad than to ever watch this again. You want to know my rating of this: 1 out of 9001. Yes, I'm serious. you're welcome... By the way, Jerk.
