First impressions

Note: This is my first time playing a Castlevania game ever.

So, first impressions, I only just barely got and started a used copy of CLoI today. While I have only gotten into the House of Sacred Remains, I have to say that I really like this game, especially the opening. While the cutscenes like in quite a few PS2 games aren't the greatest now, they were and are still good in their own right. Plus, all the PS2 cutscenes are way better than the PS1's. Leon seems really cool and dedicated to Sara, while Ronaldi, hey I remembered his name that's a good sign, with his magic/alchemey is awesome.

The fighting is nice so far - Combos are easy to use and so is both the gauntlet, along with the quick-step for dodging. The music for fights is awesome, I can't help comparing it to the first Devil May Cry because both have great music and awesome fights, though so do all three original DMC games. Also, the text on-screen element is also similiar to the first DMC, but a bit more useful because it's less cryptic about certain things.

Regular gameplay is easy, especially, if like me you didn't have a manual to go off of. Though, you have to make sure you practice quite a bit to get the hang of whip swinging. The double jump is really useful, the whip is a nice touch for being able to use it for something besides fighting, unlike in most games where you can't use weapons for anything but fighting.

All in all, so far it's a lovely game and I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the end.
