An MMO Anime Done Right.

I love the Dot Hack game, but I agree that the anime had to much talking and less game mechanics, world building, and action. I have seen some bits of SAO and agree that it was good but wasted potential on not showing much game mechanis, with a wish fulfillment character and his harem. I'm not here to compare it to is predecessors but to judge it's own merits.

On its own merits this is an anime, that treats it's audience like mature otaku and does not have to stain it self with eye turning fanservice, which for anime is a big deal. This show takes the MMO setting and takes it in a new direction with new stakes, but without going all dark and gritty and knows how to have fun and when to get serious.

Thanks to being published on the NHK this show is available for all young and old and something you can watch with anime fans who like to be both entertain and allowed to keep there brains on. This show is not as action heavy as SAO but that does not keep it from having both good fights scenes that has it's cast use there brains as well as there brawn.

The cast is diverse with each one having something to love about them and most importantly each one gets a fair amount of screen time and action in which to show off. The main character in particular is a breath of fresh air who is neither dumb, a lone wolf, leader in name only, or a jerk with a heart of gold, he's just a straight up nice guy who is more than happy to delve into evil to get things done but never crosses any moral event horizons along the way.( Also he and others make me proud to wear glasses.)

I highly recommended this to not only fans of anime but fans of RP Gs and especially MMO fans. Can't wait for season 2.
