Good, But.....(Spoilers)

Right of the bat, this was a really good movie.

The acting was great by all parties, it had some great action and awesome character development.

But, it was just really slow-paced and lacked tension for a lot of the 70s sections. I know a lot of people loved this movie and think it's the best X-Men movie yet but I can't truly get into it. Plus, the Cosmic Retcon is BS

I'd rate it in the middle, slightly better than First Class (but I'd have fonder memories of First Class as it didn't have a mountain of hype it didn't live up to).

How is it BS? We see Magneto kill Stryker. No Stryker, no Weapon X, no Alkali Lake, no Phoenix. It's pretty simple to me.

I'm a geek.

Not BS as in it didn't make sense. I find it BS because I can't stand Cosmic Retcons in general. It is a cop out to back pedal on what's been done and kinda ruins the previous movies. I'm not just talking about the good ones - look, I hate X-Men 3: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine as much as anyone but they still happened and it's weak to pull out and just write them out of existence. You should stand by your mistakes.

I'm pretty they did the cosmic retcon to fix the contunity errors between films.

Place your past in a book burn the pages let them cook.

I'm not sure about that, the franchise has always played fast and loose with continuity and Days of Future Past was no exception. It was more about getting the series into a place where they wanted to make more films than fixing mistakes, because Do FP probably created almost as many as it fixed.

The reboot doesn't annoy me either, because they made a good film that chose to preserve the older continuity in it's timeline if you care about continuity and put them in a place where they could continue to make interesting films. The experiences Wolverine had still happened, they just don't have to make every film following it based around those decisions. As long as the theme and events of the film are satisfying by themselves, does it matter what other films say or don't say about those events?

irishpride: Well, it's not really your mistake, if it was done by some one else. And even then, I prefer writers rectifying their mistakes. I think those movies simply did so much damage, it was impossible to do much else with the franchise. Like, wouldn't it be really depressing to watch prequel with teen Jean, Scott ect. if we knew how stupidly they are going to die in the future?
