So I took off Win Back the Crowd for a few reasons. 1) people whine about it as much as they do Disco and Picard, see all the “how dare they” about the orgy jokes 2) I’m not sure if the trope applies to franchise wide? There’s so much Trek around, done by various different people, and it’s not like Picard and Disco are suffering ratings wise.
Hide / Show Replies2 might be valid, but I fully disagree with 1. The show has vastly better word-of-mouth than Discovery or Picard; it's largely just that one scene that got some flak. By contrast, you can barely even discuss the latter shows without getting dogpiled by the "it's not real Star Trek" purists. I would suggest rewriting Win Back the Crowd to focus on the show Growing the Beard over its run.
Can I delete some of the Discovery/Picard complaining? Trek is such a large franchise (and Roddenberry was Merchandise-Driven anyway) that acting like parts of "aren't Trek-like" feels stupid
Hide / Show RepliesBeing "not my Trek" is the complaint of the Trekkie since, well, Trek. Whether it's Kirk or Picard, TNG or DS 9, Berman or Kurtzman. That's how Trek fandom works.
Does Migleemo really count as The Scrappy? He's an idiot and not very well-liked in-universe, but I don't see any particular fandom hate toward him.
