How was it explained in an ableist way? I was simply repeating what the video stated. If you don’t like the video, then take it up with Anna Moomin, not me. I wasn’t being ableist. Anna Moomin never said that autistic people go around naked in public but rather to explain the aversion to clothes in a broad sense.
Also, just because Daryl Hannah has “high functioning autism” doesn’t negate the fact that she’s still autistic.
Edited by ofrah1I don’t think there’s anything ableist about the video about “Splash” and Autism.
Plenty of autistic people I know like “Splash” because they can relate to Madison struggling to fit in and understand sarcasm.
Perhaps it is YOU who is being ableist.
Lastly, I don’t like your use of high functioning autism because it creates an unfair binary of “good” high functioning autism versus “bad” low functioning autism.
People with mild autism are still autistic. I have mild autism and can still relate to Madison.
Also, please don’t use the word “Asperger’s Syndrome” considering that it was named after a Nazi sympathizer and scientist named Hans Asperger who enabled the mass murder of autistic children in the gas chambers.
If you’re not autistic, then you have no right to comment, Susan Mar 192!
But if you are, then feel free to edit my page!
The "Applicabilty" section, which discusses Madison having autism is explained in a seriously ableist way. First of all, Daryl Hannah has Asperger's Syndrome/ High-Functioning autism, and second of all, it's a very mean-spirited and ableist stereotype that people with autism go around naked in public.
