I agree it's kind of weird, especially as the choice made here would be "idol", when it's almost always "friend" when the trope is invoked. I think that editor made the assumption that Pink was forced to leave Spinel behind rather than it being her choice, based on similar statements that had been on the page.

Why is Friend or Idol Decision on the page? It feels like everything in that entry is somewhat-baseless speculation, despite the poster saying it was implied. Where was it implied, exactly? Where is there any evidence? Pink's facial expressions make it clear to me that she'd grown to find Spinel's goofy, clingy behavior annoying rather than endearing. This is Pink before she started to have any character development; it would be in her character if the story from her perspective is that she didn't want Spinel anymore, so she left the "toy" she'd outgrown behind. There's not sufficient evidence to indicate that Pink felt she had to choose between Spinel and the colony, which is to say there's zero evidence of it. Unless I'm missing something stated in an interview?
