The Jon and Arlene we know now are the children of the Jon and Arlene of early in Garfield (There's been enough time, in fact, we may be coming up on 2 generations for the humans and 4 for the pets).
And Doc Boy now? Is Jon from the early comic strips. The family, or at least the men, suffer hereditary baldness.
