I just noticed something: "Rook" and "Hightower". There's a definite theme going on there, is there a trope for it? After looking up "Delgado": "Susan Delgado" is a character from a work called "The Dark Tower". Probably just a coincidence.

Possibly. Rook definitely counts as The Chessmaster.
