Where in the lore or supplementary documents is it actually stated that the Automatons are "out to save their creators, the Cyborgs from the first game"?
From what little we see in the game, there's no reason to think the Automatons are any better than Super Earth, especially given their penchant for executing fleeing civilians.

While it doesn't confirm the Automatons' motive, the Helldivers official twitter account sent an encoded message on 26 October 2021
which, decoded, read:
Additionally, dialogue with the Shipmaster shows that the Cyborgs have been enslaved since the Great Galactic War as punishment for their refusing Democracy. Cyberstan is on the galactic map, and the general direction of the Automaton frontline has been generally pointed towards Cyberstan itself.

As far as I can tell, there isn’t much information as to whether or not they’re better than Super Earth. Their short-term goal is more sympathetic than SE’s, freeing their creators from an oppressive regime, but we don’t know what exactly they’d do afterward. Continue the war? Exterminate Super Earth? Create a socialist utopia? Build a socialist dystopia? Are they even socialists or just another malicious authoritarian regime?
Besides current in-game actions, we don’t know for certain beyond conjecture.
Should a new Helldivers II page be created and applicable tropes moved there?
