The recent addition of the "Galaxy Quest" shout-out has me on the fence.
I reviewed the scenes from "Galaxy Quest" and Spiderverse and there is a definite similarity. The challenge is that both scenes are only a few seconds long so it's really hard to tell if it's an actual shout-out vs there being a limited number of ways to frame a scene where a person is in a tube of energy flying toward the camera while yelling.
I've been searching Google to see if there is any Word of God reference to support that it was an intentional, albeit very brief, shout-out to "Galaxy Quest" but so far I've come up with nothing.
Given how fleeting the scene, I'm leaning toward just calling it a happy coincidence.
Can anyone offer a reference to support it as a valid shout-out?
