The recap is wrong about the events that take place in and around Orbonne Monastery at the start of the game.

The first scenario of FFT is a political ploy by Larg, but the plot is more complicated than what is currently in the recap.

Ovelia, at the start of the game, is living at Orbonne monastery, kept "out of the way" politically. Her bodyguards Agrias Oaks, Alice and Lavian, are all part of the Lionsguard and loyal only to Ovelia. At this point in the story, Larg is regent, and he recognizes that Ovelia represents a vulnerability in the succession, so he decides to kill her.

To do this, he summons her to Eagrose/Igros, and hires Gaffgarion himself to "reinforce" her guard presumably under the pretense that sending knights of the Northern Sky would provoke Goltana. In reality, the knights that appear at Orbonne Monastery, wearing the uniforms of the Southern Sky, are disposable pawns sent there by Larg to create the illusion that Goltana is making his move. When the current version of the recap says "The forces of the Southern Sky emerge victorious", this seems to be a case of its author being confused. The Southern Sky is actually not involved in any way in the conflict at Orbonne.

This whole plan is derailed by Delita, who pretends to be one of those knights loyal to Larg, but ultimately kidnaps Ovelia for his own purposes.

Larg's last chance to turn things in his favor is for Gaffgarion to follow his secret orders to kill everyone at Zirekile Falls and blame the mess on Goltana. This fails, and narratively this is meant to be because Ramza rebels against him and tips the scales in favor of Agrias and Delita. Ovelia decides not to go with Delita after this, and stays with Agrias and Ramza. Now that they know Larg's Ivalice isn't safe, they seek asylum with Cardinal Draclau/Delacroix.

As a result, Ovelia ends up in hands of the church, and it's revealed that Delita is part of the church's conspiracy. Ovelia ends up cooperating with Delita and allows herself to be taken to Goltana's court, where she's crowned Queen and cements Goltana's faction as one having equal claim to the throne as Larg's. This implies that this was Delita's original intention in kidnapping her.
