Wrong genre savvy is when someone gets the genre of their story wrong not because they think something will happen and it doesn't. The keyword is genre. Not plots. Genres.

Buddy Picture is a genre which frequently uses the Fire-Forged Friends plot and story structure. Della clearly thinks she's in this genre when she meets the aliens and predicts what will happen based on it. She turns out to be wrong. End of story.
