My recommendation would be a new folder for Mental Health adverts. There's actually quite a few of those.
Never underestimate the importance of an open mind and compassionate heart. What about these three animal cruelty ads?
I believe these PS As should be related to the Nothing Is Scarier trope, as none of them have sound.
Edited by Greenboy13As made known earlier on in this discussion, I've been on a quest to catalogue every PSA on that list and patch up any one of the dead links with more active ones. Along the way, I've located a few vague ones that I'm bringing up in case any Troper remembers exactly which specific ads these descriptions are referring to:
Fabiosa Belle - I'm currently embarking on a quest to patch up many of the dead links on the main page with newer and more accessible ones. On the Discord where I'm gathering information for these links, it was discussed that the Fabiosa Belle PSA under the "Bullying" category should be deleted because of its difficulty to find and Fabiosa Belle's reputation as a content farm.
I'm personally split on whether to go with the "no notability" rule and keep it up, or whether the benefits of such a decision outweigh the consequences. Any opinions?
Edited by shearsforest Hey, all. I read and create alternate history for alternatehistory.com. Hide / Show RepliesLooking them up, yeah, they're a content farm all right. It sounds nightmare fuel from the description, but something tells me it's just an attempt to be shocking for clicks.
Also, good work.

Edited by jrdickinson8Guys, according to PIF Wiki, the PSA by UNICEF is made by Big Star (The studio behind Oggy and The Cockroaches and other Xilam Shows fron the 2000's look here https://pif.fandom.com/wiki/Unicef_-_Cartoons_On_Children%27s_Rights_(France,_1998-1999)?so=search#Ball
I.ve might had an Honorable Mentions in this PSA Nightmare Fuel been added since I hear Philippine PSA’s had Nightmare Fuel induced in the 90s let alone since it was a lost media.
1: Karne Ka Lang Sa Hazing/You’re just a piece of meat in hazing when an uninitiated been unprepared where there’s a dimly-lit room looks like a morgue then suddenly a slab of meat been thrown and been pounding it with 2x4 wooden paddles as the sound byte of someone yelling been playing like been hurt from the beating Blood then splashes on the wall. This Filipino PSA been shown in 1996.
2: OPS-PIA Ripped Doll where there’s a black background and a doll alone as a female Voiceover narrates listen it children and suddenly there’s a silver handed figure grabs a doll and squeezes it as the doll starts to cry and the female Voiceover in the end and it said it’s only for the best then the silver handed figure blocks the screen originated in 1998 but someone uploaded it on Youtube till it’s removal due to NSFW in 2016
Now if the psa needs. A recognition or let alone since those psa’s are lost media in Philippines.
Edited by Grabacr77I’m wondering if people can help me track down a spa that scared me when I was a kid and I haven’t been able to track down. Unfortunately I don’t remember much, I remember it was about home electrical safety, and it demonstrates this by having the family doing a bunch of things they shouldn’t. It was more like a short than a commercial. I remember they switched a lot between the shouldn’ts around the climax of the short where my little kid brain knew that entire family died. It was animated. I remember in particular the image of the one person frustratedly trying to get their toast from a toaster with a fork or something.
Hide / Show RepliesSounds like the latter half of the National Film Board of Canada's Hot Stuff short film.
The Child Cry advert linked, according to the uploader, was a Reporters Without Borders advert, when in fact, it isn't.
So, someone is deleting parts of the page over "irrelevancies". One of said irrelevancies was the League Against Cruel Sports "A Hunting We Will Go" ad! Why was it deleted? "Irrelevant" is not an explanation for deleting an entire entry.
SP00PY month! Hide / Show RepliesEducation For Death was deleted as well. I understand that it is more of a short film than a PSA, but still, shouldn't we have come up with a consensus first?
SP00PY month!A Hunting We Will Go should be brought back up, it's pretty unsettling and can be considered Nightmare Fuel for some people, I assume they took it down because they didn't think it was scary, but then again Nightmare Fuel is a YMMV trope
what was so scary about the...um, rock (it's not metal) version of the Israeli national anthem? from the sound of the description, i expected some sort of Archgoat sounding thing...and it was nothing.
I've removed the Windsor Fire Force PSAs (or rather, PIFs, as the user called them) for reasons already stated, but I'll put it here for archival reasons:
"These ads appear to be fictitious, a quick Google search reveals no previous mentions of a Windsor Fire Force before, the Canadian equivalent of the Ad Council is Concerned Children's Advertisers (now Companies Committed to Kids), and besides, why would any fire force run a PSA about freckles, much less leaving bowties in garbage cans?!?"
Edited by atyxytRegarding the 2012 Philippines cinema piracy ad, I don't find the font unsettling at all. In fact, it looks blank and generic. Personally, I found the ending scene more unsettling, with the camcorder coming out of his mouth and that scream.
Might it be better to put the "International Concerns" PIFs in with "Environmental Concerns"? There's not all that much to connect them, but I think they'd be a better fit than with the "Cruelty/Violence" PIFs.
I'm being told that the page is too long. I suggest that the best way to start solving this this is to give the Transport Safety folder its own page, maybe with different folders for drink driving, public transport and individual campaigns. What do you think?
Hide / Show RepliesThat sounds good to me. It might also help to give Drug Free America its own page, like the Montana Meth Project has.
What I could do is give each of the five major topics their own pages, each with their own folders and headings.
About the newly added Alice gun safety PSA, how old is it? The uploader seems to imply it was made recently, but the quality and the fact that I recall it being mentioned before makes me feel like it's from the 90's at least.
- Anti-steroid PSAs have featured: things fading away into nothingness (in the last one, it's actually a person disappearing); a statue's limbs crumbling away (as a metaphor for what will happen to those who use), and in a supreme example of a scary metaphor, a deflating football, basketball and volleyball and a baseball being crushed like a soda can They're not allowed to say it on TV, but we all know exactly what they're saying. Talk about "scared straight".
Is it bad that I do NOT know what the metaphors mean?
I have found a somewhat innocuous yet increasingly creepy advert for organ donation, by Spanish organisation ALCER. It shows just the hands of a surgeon placing a liver in an organ dish, where it is left forgotten. All set to an unsettling speech on living life to the full. Can this be mentioned in this article?
Should the Montana Meth Ads be in their own separate page? We have a separate page for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights in the Nightmare Fuel/Advertising page.
Shall I put the Scariest PIF Countdowns into their own folder instead of having these links cluttering up the introduction?
Hide / Show RepliesI'll ad the title of each compilation and the uploader. I think if I added which PI Fs were in there, it would take up loads of space and there'd be loads of repetition.
The Samaritans is a mental health hotline, not a domestic violence charity. Where should their PI Fs be moved?
