An entry (not mine) was deleted because the joke theory it’s about “is just fanon.” If it’s still a meme, even if canonically inaccurate, shouldn’t it still be here?

Two examples have been removed, readded and then removed again. Classic editing war, very much verboten on the wiki.

Agreed. Fanon theories can be memes.

BTW one of the disputed examples is definitely a meme in the fandom. "Subverting expectations" has blown up after one episode and one of the head writers talked about it in the after-episode video.

The "Hodor held the door for this?" thing, I'm not so sure about. But the page mentions many, many minor jokes, so why was specifically this one deleted, I can't quite tell.

The entry also says Bran forced Hodor to hold the door when Kristian Nairn (Hodor's actor) said he did it on his own accord and that Bran did nothing afterwards when he absoluetly did. He gave Arya the knife she needed to take out the Night King, was the bait used to draw out the NK and told everyone how to defeat the Army of the Dead

On top of that it's just character bashing dusguised as a meme.

... then you can re-write it or suggest a rewrite to make it more accurate. But you just don't keep deleting an example (an example of a meme in this case) — a valid reason to remove would be for example this: "That is not a meme by our definition. The meme is only a minor joke in the fandom and it's not widespread enough to be notable for this wiki."

I might be inclined to agree with the removal, but your reasoning is off. And I'm not sure you understand how we resolve a disagreement that might lead to an edit war.

All right. Do what you want. I'm tired of arguing with this fandom anyone.

^ That's very unhelpful. "Whatever. Do what you want. I don't care." — Not a very constructive approach to resolve a disagreement of this sort.

It's not a question of fandom either. Obviously fans contribute the most because they are those who know of the work and of the related fandom stuff... but the issue if you love or hate something is not relevant.

Memes/ subpage (Memetic Mutation) should document memes related to the work.
