Some developments of this generation were:

  • The rebound of Japanese developers after losing a lot of market share and respect during the seventh generation for attempting to follow western trends or simply not being able to compete with western budgets.
  • The rise of the constantly updating & expanding Live-Service game.
  • The heavier push for monetization schemes on triple-A games and the subsequent backlash against them.
  • The beginning of gaming services such as Play Station Now and Xbox Game Pass.
  • The increased awareness of developers' working conditions and corporate politics.

Should the Switch be considered an 8th-gen console, or the start of 9th gen? What was done when the Wii U came out? Was it included on the 7th-gen page (presumably because there wasn't a better spot to put it)?

I find it weird that someone cared about Demon Gaze for the Vita to make a page, yet similar games like Mind Zero and even Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment don't! :)
