Does anyone else think this trope needs a clearer name? Because I'm getting tired of seeing genuinely awe-inspiring things getting linked here via pothole by people who misinterpreted the name. Maybe something like "Mundane Epic"?

I agree with that sentiment. It took a while for me to understand this trope simply because the name confused me. That's a good suggestion for a new name, too, actually.

Another agreement here. This should be split into two pages: one for when cinematic devices or whatever are used to make something that isn't considered exciting look great, and another one for overdoing something that's completely generic and/or boring in an attempt to make it look cool.

Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle; it's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

yeah, too many people link legitimately awesome things here, or put this as a trope o a works page for something legitimately awesome.

If you're gonna say something, try and make sure you're right first, not afterwards.

I don't get it. Is this trope about failing to make a boring thing interesting by just pretending it already is (like the title and introduction imply; think Light Yagami), or about that overused joke where you intentionally show a mundane thing in an over-the-top way to highlight how mundane it really is (like nearly every example on the page; think the Ghost Love Score meme)? And since they're both actually tropes — common tropes, used on TV no less — they ought to both have pages. So where's the page for whatever this page isn't? Maybe linking to it at the bottom would help clarify things.

Could someone please add something to the intro of this trope explaining what it's about?

I re-wrote the description. Did that help, or did I go too far?

See you in the discussion pages.
