This takes away a good potential trope name for transhuman aliens who aren't originally from Earth, like the Firstborn, Greg Egan's Amalgam, the Culture or the Inhibitors. It's not Sufficiently Advanced Aliens, because that's aliens with arbitrary powers isomorphic to fantasy gods, rather than aliens incorporating specific 20th and 21st-century ideas about human enhancement. I guess the "humans" in the title would be kind of an obstacle anyway, but I can't think of a better one at the moment, while this trope could've been named Alien Humans (edit: or Human Subspecies, which might be a duplicate of this anyway).
Edited by DocumentN Hide / Show RepliesI would say Transhuman Aliens should be human, being from Earth is just an added bonus. Ultra Terrestrials should be about non human aliens who never the less do originate from Earth. Human Subspecies should probably would not have quite the same implications if revealed to characters in the story would not require the subspecies to be seen as aliens.

The Osmosians from Ben 10 were originally established as coming from "Osmos V", but this was retconned into being a hoax, and the Osmosians are genetically-engineered humans.
