I think that this trope should be named something a little less wordy and redundant. Like "True Final Dungeon".
Hide / Show RepliesLike True Final Boss that was at first The Very Definitely Final Boss? Not a bad idea. You need to open a TRS thread to propose this, though.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300^ Funny, I was thinking of using "The Very Definitely Final Boss" for a TLP idea, but in a similar sense as The Very Definitely Final Dungeon. If a dungeon that is absurdly cooler than the rest must be the final one, then the same applies for final bosses, too. (As way too many JRPGs since Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy VII can attest)
It seems to me that many of these examples do not qualify at all but are just "final dungeons" without the screaming "I'm it" part. For example in Fallout 3 you walk along a way which you walked before, only having to fight more enemies now - nothing flashy at all about it. Others seem similar. Maybe we need to cut out a lot of stuff?
We should really find a way to break up the video game section, seeing how big it is.
Hide / Show RepliesWe should change the picture to the Collector Base in Mass Effect 2. I mean it's beyond a Red Mass Relay that leads to the accretion disk of a massive black hole in the Galactic core surronded by a ship grave yard which doubles as an asteroid field which is home to a giant Space Station where they melt down specimens into goo. Populated by zombie robots and mindless bug people. I mean really.
Stand Fast, Stand Strong, Stand Together
The RPG section was getting too big so I split it into its own page.
