"As well as the controversial r/K selection theory, which postulates that scarcity leads to a "fight, work hard, earn what you need" mindset, which leads to wealth, but wealth leads to another psychology with the intention of "eat as much as you can and have as many children as possible, while reducing the cost invested into the world" (or basically going the easiest way possible and avoid hardships). This kind of psychology destroys any wealth created before, til a catastrophe happens and all wealth is consumed. This catastrophe leads to extreme scarcity which in turn leads to more virtuous people building new wealth."

Seems entirely wrong. r/K selection theory is the idea that organisms tend to conform to one of two strategies. The r strategy is a shotgun approach. Short lives, many offspring, very little parental care, one or few mating events. The K strategy is high parental investment in the young, only one or two offspring at a time, long lives, and many mating events. It's not a psycho/sociological description for behaviours in society with regards to scarcity, it's a biological description for organism lifestyles and reproductive strategies.

Kick the world, break your foot.

I'm curious as to where this trope has been indexed. I'd have thought it'd be in Characterization, but I can't find it there, or anywhere for that matter. EDIT: Never mind, found it.
