Can something count as an example if it's not actually that saccharine, but popular opinion is that it is? For an infamous example, when Wind Waker was revealed to the public, a large, or at least very vocal, portion of Zelda fans hated it for not being as mature as Ocarina of Time before it even had a chance to prove it, based on its art style alone. The hatred for the game's art lasted long enough that, when Twilight Princess came out, most of the hatred for Wind Waker was still about how the game wasn't "mature" due to the art style alone, and not things like "does it tackle any heavy themes like loss?"

Am I the only person who feels this way towards that Value City Furniture commercial? I'm sure you've all seen it somewhere on this website. It was intended to be a wholesome commercial for the whole family and it succeeds, but it really pours on the saccharine whenever there's a kid on screen.
