I'm confuse. Is the trope about the work having references to the research of the author? Is about the work having references so precise that seems like they won't happen normally in a dialogue? Or is about the author making his work with the sole purpose of show what he knows?

What should we do in the many instances where the work isn't tweaked to show their work, for example the 2x4s under Pixar? Sure, they could have gotten away without this, but the clunky movement of toys was surely a key feature of the concept for the movie.
I'm almost wondering if we need a new sub-trope applicable to animation (Shown Their Location Work?) for anime based on real locations - e.g. Grave of The Fireflies, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On...?
Hide / Show RepliesAnswering myself, what I was thinking of was Real-Place Background. I'll add a mention.
I'm not sure how to add pictures to articles, or if this one would even be appropriate/fit the format. It IS funny, though: http://badgods.com/twilightargument.html
Hide / Show RepliesThat's not an appropriate picture for this article, as it doesn't fit the definition and even if it did it would need to be shopped. However, for future reference, to add pictures to articles you use the image uploader to put the picture in our database. Once you do that, you can use take the image wiki address the uploader gives you, put it in an article, and voila, page picture. Pretty simple process.
See you in the discussion pages.
I thought this was YMMV?
