Just out of curiosity, why is this on the "No Real Life Examples" list? There are a number of animals species (excluding humans) for whom the act of mating is fatal.

That would be Out with a Bang. This trope is about "well, they had sex. Narratively, that means they die."
Since real-life has no narrative, this is one of those that's simply inapplicable.
