The image shows the UK as being part of the European Union. As of 2020 this is no longer the case due to Brexit. Anyone got the time to change this?

Using terms like "Asian" or "Western" as a cultural concept is highly problematic and useless. This article avoids this mostly, however in the RL section is an example comparing the trope to the situation in other regions. It then becomes more of a listing regions that are different from "Western Countries". The trope however is clearly pertaining to Russia and not "Western Countries". An example about other countries would thus have to explain why the situation is comparable to Russia.

Let's go through the examples:

  • Israel:
    • Israel has a majority of the population who are culturally different from the population from the surrounding countries. Russia doesn't.
    • Israel is said to belong to Asia which is then narrowed down to West Asia which is then equated with the Middle East.
  • Turkey:
    • is said to be "culturally Eastern".
    • being a NATO is a point showing "European" foreign policies. However how does this relate to the Russian situation? Also it claims that Turkey is in a similar situation to Israel.
  • Mexico: this actually could count if reworked.
  • Africa:
    • is not a country and is cultural different from Europe.
    • the example basically only states that "Africans" see themselves different from others. How does this relate to the situation with Russia? Who claims that Africa belongs to Europe?
  • "Latin" America: if it zig-zags the trope it might also indicate it's not related at all.
  • Oceania: since most countries there have become independent it's not immediately related. Nobody uses the term culturally or if they do they only consider the indigenous population.

IMHO this example should be cut.
