This is a nasty situation, and not a joke. If you ever get in this situation, your best bet is to stay calm and NOT to try to unharness yourself, NOT to try cut the lines or risers with the hook knife, and GOD FORBID NOT to try cutaway by pulling the main release knob. Just wait for the rescuers. When I did my AFF jumps, this trope actually happened to one girl in her early twenties at another drop zone. It was her second AFF jump.
Ok, training to jump ON the trees is by far Crazy Enough to Work in my book. And the extra length of rope to lower yourself down better be in the 100 ft. range or more if you plan to jump on the Amazon rainforest, because the trees are way taller than that. You are better off having telephone pole equipment, like those spurs made for this, and finding a tree you can hug around.
