There may need to be a bit of clarification for this trope. Most of the description seems to center on statements or actions done before a mind wipe, because said character won't remember afterwards. (e.g. Alice confesses her love for Bob as she'd be too shy to say it if Bob would remember.)
But the later part of the description seems to be more about taking advantage of already present amnesia (e.g. Alice kisses Bob, who doesn't remember that he's dating Carol.)
So, is it one, the other, or are there two variants?
