Yaknow with the recent tsunami and earthquake in Japan? ...With that in mind, is anyone else getting increasingly worried about Author Existance Failure in regards to the Wii rerelease...?

"An Updated Rerelease on Wii Ware is in the works, with 16-bit SNES-style graphics in place of the MSX-style ones, among various other changes. "

Are you sure it's supposed to resemble 16-bit graphics? What I've seen from the trailers looks far too advanced for the SNES. In particular, it all reminded me of Castlevania Symphony Of The Night.

Seconding that, looks more like a PSX or GBA game to me.

Anyone else get a sad feeling of selling out about the whole thing? Not the updated graphics necessarily, I just mean the convenient absence of the MSX stuff. On the official site for the game (la-mulana.com) it even mentions the Famicom as the developers' retro console of choice.... in total contradiction to the original PC release's manual, which mentions support for the MSX in the face of the "Famicom army".

Taken from the main article:

"Suspiciously Similar Substitute: For legal purposes, references to the MSX will be removed from the Wii Ware version. Instead, Lemeza will carry a Mobile Super X laptop. Some people are not happy with this, despite the fact it would be next to impossible to retain them in a paid product. "

So no, that's not "selling out."

Removing elements of something from the game does not equate to feigning a passion for its competitor. What you said doesn't address the issue at all.

  1. I quoted the article.
  2. How is this an issue? Do you believe it will have any effect on the game itself? I agree that praising the famicom out of left field isn't good, but the worst I can see happening is Elder Xelpud getting his dialog tweaked.

You know what I'd love to see? Elder Xelpud sarcastically praising the NES.

I had this issue as well, but downloading the game from the link here seemed to fix it. I'm sure the two don't have any correlation though.
