The issue isn't that the character is or isn't ugly. The issue is that you're misunderstanding the trope. This trope refers to situations where a character is described as ugly in-universe, but doesn't look too different from other characters. If a character actually appears ugly to the audience, they are not an example of this trope. That's why I removed that particular example from the page. I hope that is sufficient explanation for you.
