I don't want to be self-indulgent on the main page, so I'll be self-indulgent here instead.
I'm an ex-pat living in a small former-Portuguese colony called Macau, near Hong Kong and China, and I play music in my spare time. Audience in Macau are pretty hip to a wide range of music. Audiences across the border in Mainland China... not so much.
At one particular venue there is a tendency to request "Yesterday Once More" by the Carpenters - no matter which band was playing. It was one thing when they used to request it when I was a solo performer with an acoustic guitar. It was another when it was my friends band, are rather loud heavy metal band.
