Do the Near-humans from Star Wars count?

The mention of Homo nintendonus is my favorite example. Though I have some ideas of my own in mind. Homo wiccanus for witches, Homo goliathensis for giants, Homo lycanthropus for werewolves, and so on.

I'd like to propose another title "Homo something-eslecus" Nah, that sounds silly

Don't know how far to take this with the species/subspecies/variety (Race) thing. In general, subspecies of the same species can interbreed, but, as any fish breeder knows, it's not atypical for species within the same genus to interbreed and produce fertile hybrid offspring, and it's not out of the question for closely related species within the same taxonomic family but not in the same genus to breed and produce infertile offspring.

SO, with that said, I would maintain that in Known Space, Wunderlanders and Jinxians are Human Subspecies. Yes they can interbreed with humans, and they are Homo sapiens of a certainty, but they're probably sufficiently different to constitute a subspecific population rather than a mere local variety.

The early bird gets the worm, which is great if you like worms for breakfast.

Would Shadowrun count? The various meta-types and changelings are offshoots of humanity after the return of natural magic
