I want to clarify about Balalaika. Her nickname just seems like Klukva. If we consider her image more closely, we can find an interesting detail: in the jargon of the Soviet army in those years SVD sniper rifle, from which Palen great shot, also called the "Balalaika".
Last item on the list refers to a General Vostok and seems to translate his name as Winter. Vostok means East. Am I reading this incorrectly?

These "useful notes" are way too dense and rambly to be that useful at all. They need to be cleaned the fuck up. I don't know enough about Russia / am too lazy to do it myself, I'm just sayin'.

Heh, I was just thinking that myself.
GMR is about the fictional, stereotypical depiction of Russia/USSR, so I cut the useful notes stuff (which wasn't really all that useful, with all the natter and crap).

I would debate that Russia would be miserable. From my personal experiences, they are not very different from, say, the British at this field.
